Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

On top of the hockey world during the late-1950s, the Montreal Canadiens would secure an unlikely string of 5 consecutive Stanley Cup championships – a feat repeated by no other – with Henri Richard arriving just as the Bleu Blanc Rouge began to make their ascent, with the first Cup won during his rookie season in 1955-56. Hailing from that glorious era, we have a stick used by The Pocket Rocket in 1956-57 team-signed by the Stanley Cup champion Canadiens. A CCM Pattern Made Professional model, “H Richard” has been stamped over the upper shaft along with his “16”, with an additional stamp from team supplier Raymond Hardware. The original black tape over the blade and white over black on the knob remains intact, with a small separation where the blade meets the shaft at the top of the heel section. There is also a small chip at the heel, with the stick showing game use including wear to the taped blade and knob, along with marks and some red paint transfer to the shaft. The ballpoint signatures include from top to bottom, Boom Boom Geoffrion, unknown, Claude Provost, Henri Richard, Bob Turner, Floyd Curry, Andre Pronovost, Don Marshall, Doug Harvey, Dollard St-Laurent, Jean Beliveau, Maurice Richard, Bert Olmstead, Jean-Guy Talbot, Tom Johnson (very faded) and Dickie Moore, with the majority displaying nicely. Additionally, what appears to be "Novembre 1956" appears in pencil over the lower shaft (hard to make out). This gem is ideal for any comprehensive Stanley Cup or Habs collection.
