Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The backbone of the dominant New York Islanders squad that annihilated all competition throughout the early-1980s, Bryan Trottier earned considerable hardware throughout his HOF career, including the Calder Memorial, Conn Smythe, Hart Memorial and Art Ross Trophy’s to go along with six Stanley Cup’s as a player. Hailing from February 5th, 1992, we offer this stick used by Trottier to record his 1400th National Hockey League point, a power-play goal scored 37 seconds into a game against the New York Rangers that was assisted by Ron Francis and Larry Murphy. A Victoriaville Ultra 4050 model with “B. Trottier” stamped to the shaft, the stick retains its original tape job or white cloth-over-black on the handle/knob with the blade tape having been removed but with residue evident. Sporting good game-use, dark marks are seen throughout the white coloured shaft while the foil accent wraps show tearing as well. The lower shaft shows chipping to the white paint with the blade and lower shaft/heel displaying puck marks. The blade also shows a crack along the top edge as well as to the fiberglass with “2-11” handwritten on the blade shaft in pencil. Trottier has signed the forehand side of the blade with a black ink signature that displays light from age and has added an inscription in matching black marker that reads “1400 Pts Trottier, Francis Murphy 0:37 1st Period John Vanbiesbrouck” that is in the same condition as the autograph. A hologram from Double Deke Hockey is affixed to the underside of the shaft with the stick accompanied by both a Double Deke COA and a Beckett COA that is signed by Trottier.
