Contained within wax paper wrappers that housed 5 cards and cost a nickel and released for a season that saw the Winnipeg Blue Bombers knock off the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the Grey Cup, up on the block here is this 1959 Topps CFL set. A complete assembly consisting of 88 cards that are mostly in a uniform condition lower-to-mid grade condition range with more than twenty (20) cards having creases, the set is highlighted by the key rookie card trio of Tommy Joe Coffey (VG – small light crease at the top edge), Russ Jackson (VG to VG-EX – corner wear, light surface wear and a small hairline crease) and Angelo Mosca (G to VG – light hairline creases x2, back right edge ding and surface scratches. Other notable cards include those of 30-Patterson (crease), 39-Getty (crease and miscut), 40-Kwong (crease and print line on the front), 43-Parker (crease) and 63-Shatto (crease) in the condition range of G while the checklist cards of #15 Al Dorow (VG – top right corner crease) and #44 Don Barry (G to VG – left edge ding, crease at the bottom right corner and a hairline crease at the bottom edge) both remain unmarked. A wonderful grouping of cards showing some of the best to ever compete in the CFL, don’t let these pass you by!
