The 13th overall draft pick of the Washington Capitals in 2002, Alexander Semin enjoyed seven seasons in the United States capital before moving on to Carolina and Montreal to finish out his National Hockey League career before returning home to Russia. Worn by the forward during the 2012-13 season is this Carolina Hurricanes jersey. Featuring a single size “58” label affixed to the inner collar that displays Semin’s number “28” at the top handwritten in black ink, crests for the NHL and Reebok adorn the front and back necklines respectively while team set and year stamping is found behind the front crest. Decorated over the front with the Hurricanes team crest with embroidered details, matching alternate logo patches reside over each shoulder. The sleeves and verso of the jersey have had Semin’s number “28” sewn to them in dual layer red-over-black tackle twill with “Semin” across the affixed matching nameplate in matching style. Displaying only light marks and loose threads over the front crest and some light red colour bleed from washing to the left armpit and fight strap the jersey remains in excellent condition. Additionally, Semin has signed the back number “2” with a black ink signature that displays without issue. A Hurricanes COA will accompany the piece.
ADDENDUM: New information presented to us shows that the jersey is actually from the 2012-13 season and was part of the third set of jerseys used that season with the team stamping found on the backside of the team crest on the front. The jersey was originally sold on NHL Auctions in 2015.
