Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
Initially an AFL franchise founded in 1966, the Miami Dolphins joined the NFL in 1970 and have enjoyed a long-standing success in the league including back-to-back Super Bowl Championships in 1972 and 1973, putting up the only perfect season in NFL history in the process. In 53 seasons of play, 10 Dolphins (9 players and 1 coach) have been enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Presented here, we offer this collection of seven signed Miami Dolphins mini helmets including one with five members of the famed 1972 “17-0” squad. All freshly certified by JSA and accompanied by basic certificates, all have signed on size 3 5/8 replica helmets made by Riddell with Dolphins decals over each side. Individually signed examples present include; Rickey Williams, Mark Duper, Larry Csonka, Olivier Vernon, Jake Scott, and one of an unidentified player. The 1972 helmet, featuring a Super Bowl VII decal affixed to the one side, is signed by Jim Kiick, Larry Little, Manny Fernandez, Bob Kuechenberg, and Mercury Morris. All the signatures have been done in either blue or black ink and display without issue. The helmets themselves remain in good condition with a couple showing light scratches and small scuffs, imperfections to the decals or the chin cup padding coming loose. The 1972 helmet comes with a display case measuring approx. 11” high that displays all the game scores in the background for the whole season and remains in good condition.
