The 14th overall pick in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes, Patrick DesRochers would suit up and play in 11 NHL games over the course of his career, split between the Coyotes and the Carolina Hurricanes. Starting his professional career during the 1999-00 season with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL, DesRochers would register 21 wins in 52 games played along with a .907 save percentage. Hailing from that same 1999-00 season, we offer this mask worn by DesRochers with the Falcons. Produced by Itech with the company’s sticker affixed to the inside top of the shell, a menacing smiling falcon design decorates the headgear while the backplate features DesRochers’ number “37” and nickname, “Patty D.”. Painted by “T. Allen”, the artist has added their signature behind the left ear. A white cats eye cage is affixed to the front of the mask. Exhibiting heavy use throughout with a number of chips, marks and abrasions, most of the interior padding is still present on the inside, with just some missing near the chin, with the chin cup and sweatband also being accounted for but showing soiling and wear. Additionally, rusting is found on the hardware for the cage. A photo of DesRochers wearing the mask will accompany the piece.
