Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

Bobby, Bobby and Gordie, along with the rookie cards of three Hall of Famers lead this rather pleasing (mostly mid-grade) ensemble of Topps’ popular/challenging 1967-68 issue, with EX-MT, EX-MT+ and NM examples also in the mix, although most of the key cards are EX or lower. Orr’s second-year entry is VG+ with a 3/4-inch diagonal crease near the top left corner, while better are 118-Orr Calder Trophy (VG-EX+) and 128-Orr All-Star (VG-EX). Keys making it to EX are 3-Lemaire RC, 43-Howe and the two unmarked checklists, with 66-1st Series (EX+) a tad nicer than 120-2nd Series. Among standouts are EX-MT+ cards of 1-Worsley (with a little (removable) wax) and 127-Horton AS, while 16-Horton, 64-Mikita Triple and 74-Beliveau are EX-MT contributors. Notables sent to VG+ by a small, light crease and/or corner wear are Sanderson and Vachon RCs, both Hulls, 99-Cheevers, 114-Mikita and 131-Howe AS, with VG-EX (32-Esposito) to EX cards dominating the remainder. Two high grade encapsulated cards are present; 29-Geoffrion (PSA NM-MT 8) and 65-Hall/DeJordy Vezina (KSA 8.5 NMM+), with a duplicate Geoffrion at VG+. A colorful array of desirable collectibles awaits the new owner, with the holders of the slabbed cards free of unsightly scratches/scuffs.
