Wearing the distinguished “C” on his Toronto Maple Leafs sweater for eight of his fourteen seasons spent in the blue and white, Ted Kennedy led Toronto to five Stanley Cup’s including a run of three-straight from 1947 to 1949. Held in the light as hockey royalty in Toronto, Kennedy would encounter British royalty on Oct 13th, 1951 when he met then Princess Elizabeth in the stands of Maple Leaf Gardens, in Canada on her first royal visit. Offered here, is this collection of seven (7) 16’ x 20” photographs of the encounter that have been signed by Kennedy. Taking place after a one period afternoon exhibition game between the Leafs and Chicago Black Hawks before the regularly schedule event that evening, the scoreless affair was said by Kennedy to be “the best hockey ever played at the Gardens, all the players with Chicago and Toronto were Canadians and wanted to play their best for the Princess''. Signed in either gold or silver ink. The photos display light edge and corner wear with two of the photos having surface wear in the form of liquid staining or stuck on residue with all the signatures displaying without issue. Additionally included with the lot, is an additional 16” x 20” image of Kennedy being awarded his 200th goal puck that has been inscribed as such by the HOFer in blue pen with a flawless signature underneath. The photo shows flaws through edge and corner creasing and wear along with creases, paper loss, toning and residue staining the reverse. Lastly, four 8” x 10” images of Kennedy and Ted Lindsay round out the collection, each signed by Lindsay in silver marker over his image with one displaying a slight smudge. The four photos show well with only light wear touches to the edges and corners to note. An LOA from the Kennedy family will accompany.
