Nicknamed “King Kong” because of his size and toughness, Jerry Korab would play in 975 National Hockey League contests throughout his 15-year career in hockey’s top league, playing in the 1975 and 1976 All-Star Games. Offered here, is this Los Angeles Kings jersey worn by Korab during the 1980-81 season. Sporting a “W.A. Goodman & Sons” label affixed to the inner collar that displays an “XL” size designation, the front of the stylish purple and gold garment is decorated with a fully embroidered version of the well-known Kings crown team crest. The sleeves and verso have had Korab’s number “4” sewn to them in dual layer tackle twill numerals with “Korab” spelt out across the upper back in single layer purple twill letters that have been affixed directly to the heavy mesh material. With knit striping bands utilized over the waist, a snap style fight strap is seen on the interior. Exhibiting good game-use, the jersey shows a small handful of stick marks and board burns over the lower front and the reverse while also displaying team repairs over the front and both sleeves including a large fabric backed patch at the left forearm. Wear is present at the letters on the reverse and pilling is found on the interior in the fight strap area and on both elbows. Additionally, the bottom of the left sleeve has been pinched-in.
