Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
An Olympic bronze medal winner with his native Finland in 2014, Antti Niemi would tend the goal in the National Hockey League to the tune of 464 games over 11 years. Guarding the crease for the Chicago Blackhawks during their Stanley Cup championship season of 2009-10, we offer this equipment bag used by Niemi for the Blackhawks season opening games in his home country of Helsinki, Finland. Made of thick nylon material with reinforced corners and bottom, a JRZ logo is screened to the top along with an identification pocket, with “Chicago Blackhawks” over each side. Featuring two zippers, still in working condition, with black and red handles, heavy wear is exhibited throughout with a couple of small holes and cuts seen at one end. An airline tag displaying “Niemi” is affixed to the one handle, dated Aug 31 and showing the airport codes of ORD (Chicago O’Hare) and MUC (Munich).
