Drafted by Buffalo in the seventh round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Paul Gaustad would go on to play 12 years in the league, with eight spent in Buffalo. Hailing from the 2011-12 campaign, is this 40-year anniversary alternate captain’s jersey worn by Gaustad. Made by Reebok, a sewn over size “56” flag tag is affixed to the inner collar while logos of the NHL and Reebok are found on the front and reverse necklines respectively. Featuring “Buffalo” arching across the chest in individual white felt letters with the alternate captain’s “A” over the left breast, a 1970 Sabres crest has been placed beneath, with “28” over the sleeves and verso in coarse white felt affixed with cross-pattern stitching. Gaustad’s name is spelt out across an affixed yellow airknit nameplate in single layer blue letters. The interior hem of the jersey features Sabres team tagging designating it as an official 2011-12 game jersey with a hologram sticker present above the fight strap. With only a single board burn present on the lower reverse, the jersey remains in beautiful condition with just a few loose threads found at the neck on the interior of the jersey.
