“The Hick from French Lick” is not only one of the best to ever wear the green and white for the Boston Celtics but one of the best to ever play in the National Basketball Association. Enjoying a 13-year NBA career, with Bird at the helm, the Celtics qualified for the playoffs every season with Boston winning three NBA titles in the 80’s. Presented here is this Sports Illustrated cover display signed by Bird with a piece of the court from Larry’s home high school court. The cover, displaying Bird as “The Living Legend”, originally published on March 3, 1986, has been signed by Bird with a bold black ink signature that displays without issue. Alongside the signature, is a 1 ½” x 1 ½” piece of the court that Larry played on in his high school career at Springs Valley High in French Lick, Indiana. An information plaque for the floor piece is found underneath with the entirety of the display’s contents situated under green and white mattes. Housed in a sleek black frame with full dimensions of 20 ¾” x 16 ¾”, the edges show light dings. A JSA LOA will accompany the item.
