This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
The top story line of the 1980s in the National Basketball Association, Larry Bird’s Boston Celtics and Magic Johnson’s Los Angeles Lakers were common place in the NBA Finals with at least one of the two teams appearing each year between 1980 and 1989. Presented here is this display highlighting the “Larry vs Magic” rivalry. Containing a trio of vintage magazines near the bottom, including two from when Bird and Magic were front and centre in the 1979 NCAA Tournament, a Celtics 1984 Championship recap magazine sits in the middle, with Bird shown on the cover. A card of Bird and Magic late in their careers is shown at the bottom of the display with a 1980-81 NBA guide with the duo on the cover featured above the Celtics magazine. Two pieces of hardwood hailing from the Lakers and Celtics home courts of The Forum and Boston Garden are shown, with Bird and Magic having signed their respective court pieces with bold black ink signatures that display well despite the Bird signature having a small smudge. The contents of the display are contained under green and purple mattes with everything housed in a black frame that shows wear and dings to the edges and corners with measurements of 34 ¾” x 30 ¾”. Accompanied by a JSA LOA, please note that due to the size and/or weight, special shipping arrangements may be required.
While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occur during shipping.
