Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
A veteran of 831 National Hockey League games as well 401 contests in Finland’s top pro league, Sami Kapanen would be elected to two NHL All-Star Games over his career, with this helmet worn by the Finnish-born forward during the 2000 mid-season spectacle in Toronto. A Bauer 4000 model in the red colour donned by Team World during the game, Team World logos and stripping stickers are affixed to each side and extend towards the crown while additional decals of the event logo and NHL shield are found placed on the reverse along with ones displaying Kapanen’s “24”. Displaying light game-wear with scratches and scuffs throughout, Kapanen’s “24” is penned to the foam on the inside, that remains fully intact and in good condition, in black ink while cracks are seen near the ears on each side. Kapanen’s original visor is still affixed which he has signed with a silver ink signature that displays some wear/damage. Of note, blue/black coloured residue is found over the front of the piece, as well as the right ear and visor.
