Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
Part of one the game of hockey’s most famous families with finger prints on the game dating back to the early-1900s, Lester Patrick would help establish things still seen in the modern game including the blue line, playoff system and allowing goaltenders to fall to make a save. Joining the expansion New York Rangers in 1926 as coach, Patrick would hold position with the Rangers till 1946. Pictured here in this photo is Lester, proudly wearing a New York Rangers lapel pin on his jacket. Measuring 7 ½” x 9 ½” with full dimensions of 8 ¼” x 10 ¼”, the portrait is housed in an intricate gold colored metal frame. The photo exhibits scratches and spotting seen throughout but overall it still displays well. Patrick has signed the left side of the image with a black fountain pen signature that displays without issue with the autograph made out “To Laurie, With Best Wishes”. Additionally included with the photo is a copy of Eric Whitehead’s book titled “The Patricks: Hockey’s Royal Family” that remains in good condition with wear to the dust jacket and toning to the page edges with the original owner’s name and address found on the inside cover.
