Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022

Tying the cross-town rival Canadiens for first-place overall, the Montreal Maroons concluded the 1929-30 NHL season with 51 points, and were defeated by Boston during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Produced for the Jan 27, 1930 contest vs the Detroit Falcons, we have a scarce early Montreal Forum program (the program is dated "Jan 23rd, 1930", but the game occurred on the 27th). Picturing a generic Maroon on the cover along with the .10 cent purchase price and advertising from Red Indian gasoline, the 48-page survivor features full-page bios with photos for Carson Cooper and Jimmy Ward as well as the Montreal Wanderers' Walter Smaill, with the centerfold line-up detached but present (there is wear to the line-up including tears and a small piece torn away). Won by the Maroons 2-1, with HOFers Nels Stewart and Hooley Smith scoring the Montreal goals, the program exhibits light overall wear with a few small creases to the back cover and toning to the interior.
