Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
The first goaltender to be credited with scoring a goal and a menace to anyone that came around his crease, Billy Smith would spend 17 prosperous seasons on Long Island, winning 4 Stanley Cups and being enshrined in hockey’s holy house in 1993. Hailing from the mid-1980s is this signed KOHO stick used by Smith. A KOHO Pro Superflex model with “Smith” stamped to the shaft, Billy’s original white tape job is found over the knob with black over the blade. Exhibiting light game-use, the bottom of the blade has had some of the black paint rubbed off and a bit of red post paint transfer is present on the knob. The original accent stripping sticker that would have been on the upper part of the paddle is no longer present and the stick remains free from cracks or breaks. Additionally, Smith has signed the backside of the shaft with a blue ink signature that reads “All the Best, Billy Smith” with the autograph displaying without flaw. The stick will be accompanied by a Classic Auctions LOA.
