Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/14/2022
Pushed to the brink after a game 5 defeat by the Soviet’s, Team Canada would cling to life and pull out a 3-2 win in game 6 with all the scoring happening during the second period of play. With his 5th goal of the series, it would be Paul Henderson scoring the winner for the Canadians with Ken Dryden holding off the Soviet barrage. Hailing from the nail biting contest is this ticket stub from game 6 held at the Luzhniki Palace of Sports in Moscow. Measuring approx. 2 5/8” x 4 ¼” at its longest parts, the thin paper ticket lists the game, date, venue and seat in Cyrillic, with a line drawing of the Luzhniki seating bowl on the reverse. With a torn edge at the left side, the stub retains a crisp while appearance with strong colours. Displaying a roughly cut top edge, a handful of creases are seen throughout, particularly at the top left and bottom right corner with some present on the top edge as well.
