Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

Not fond of creases was the assembler of the pieced-together-over-the-years 1964 Topps set offered here, with minimal obvious wrinkles observed and a mid-grade average to report. We’d say right around EX, with plenty of VG-EX to EX representatives joined by EX+ to NM-and-better contributors, along with VG and VG+ examples. Cards with evidence of having a coin rubbed (CR) over part of their backs are present but are far-outnumbered by ones without. The keys are just that, with the lowdown as follows. VG in our eyes are both 50-Mickey Mantle (surface scratch through his face/chin) and 440-Roberto Clemente (two side-to-side print lines), with a coin-rubbed 125-Pete Rose second-year card otherwise VG-EX, similar to 541-Phil Niekro RC. A tad higher at VG-EX+ is 423-Tops in NL Aaron/Mays, while at EX are 150-Mays, 225-Maris and 331-AL Bombers Maris/Cash/Mantle/Kaline, with 300-Aaron (CR) otherwise EX+. Among the limited creased condition exceptions are notables 243-Allen RC (subtle back crease) and 230-B. Robinson. Our images tell of the standard varying centering, as well as the backs of all of the most pertinent others, with the high numbers (523-587) consistent with or a tad better than the rest condition-wise. Plenty of perusing enjoyment and multiple options await the new owner.
*One graded card is present; 579-Red Sox Team is a PSA EX-MT 6, while 11 miscellaneous duplicates are mostly lower grade throw-ins.
