With the Montreal Canadiens completely dominating the 1977-78 NHL season, losing a mere 10 regular-season contests and just a trio of playoff games to claim their third-consecutive Stanley Cup championship, numerous Habs would also claim individual hardware. The Art Ross would go to Guy Lafleur and the Conn Smythe to Robinson among others, with Hall of Fame star and former Habs’ captain Bob Gainey earning his first of four consecutive Frank J Selke awards. This 14K gold and diamond ring was presented to Mario Tremblay for his status with the Montreal Canadiens as a 1978 Stanley Cup champion. Size 11 1/2 with an approx weight of 39 grams, this spectacular ring displays a dazzling tableau with a huge diamond in a diamond-shaped gold setting encircled by 24 smaller diamonds floating in a sea of white gold. "N.H.L. Champions 1978" surrounds it all on the bezel. "Coupe Stanley Cup" banner on the left shank with “Club de Hockey Canadien” at the bottom and each of the team's 21 Cup championship years surrounds a likeness of Lord Stanley's chalice, while "Tremblay" is spelled out above the CH logo on the right shank with "Champions Est-East 59-10-11" below it reflecting Montreal's incredible regular season mark. "Jostens 14K" is stamped to the inside band which also displays Tremblay's engraved facsimile signature. Regarding condition, the ring shows numerous scratches and wear to the band from use, with additional scratches and wear to the sides of the bezel and shanks. From Mario Tremblay's personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany along with the original presentation box with a Habs logo across the swivel lid.
