Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
After a two-year hiatus, Topps was back producing hockey cards for the 1957-58 season, once again featuring members of the four U.S.-based teams, with important rookie and star cards contributing to its 66-card effort and barely a crease spotted in this rather alluring ensemble, dominated by EX, EX+ and EX-MT entries, with some NMs also to come upon. Top-to-bottom centering is off on several of the key elements, with rookie cards of Glenn Hall (EX+), Johnny Bucyk (technically VG+ due to a tiny corner crease), Norm Ullman (EX+) and Pierre Pilote (EX) joined by legends Gordie Howe (EX-MT) and Terry Sawchuk (EX+) and unblemished surfaces throughout striking the beholder. Miscut on the back are the Howe and Pilote cards, while the first half-dozen and last couple of numbered cards have rubber band-caused warping, with 1-Chevrefils (G) and 66-Creighton (VG) the lone creased lower grade condition exceptions. Problem-free backs are also to note, with the uniform condition appealing indeed – we surmise you’ll be pleased when this assembly arrives.
