Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/14/2022
Striking memorabilia from the famous '72 Summit Series, this Russian nesting doll is one of the various size wooden dolls given to Team Canada players by their Soviet counterparts prior to Game 4 of the Series, played in Vancouver on September 8th, 1972. A full-page color photo of five Canadian players holding their dolls just after receiving them in the customary pre-game exchange of gifts can be found in the classic "Twenty-seven days in September" book (page 67). The thin wooden two-piece affair has vibrant colors, stands 18" high and has survived in like-new condition with no cracks and just light handling wear. Originally part of the Alan Eagleson collection, it's a wicked piece to add to a Summit Series display.
