Jean Beliveau's second best offensive season of his career took place in 1960-61, where he registered 90 points to finish runner-up to NHL scoring champ Bernie Geoffrion. The two teammates combined to lead the Canadiens to a 6-1 win over the Rangers in New York on Thursday, March 9, 1961, with both stars reaching important milestones. Beliveau assisted on all 3 of Boomer's goals, the last one being career #300 for Geoffrion. Apart from his 3 assists, Beliveau also scored twice, with his 1st period goal at 5:39 counting as the 271st of his career to pass Habs' legends Howie Morenz and Aurele Joliat and move him into 6th place on the all-time goal list. Gilles Tremblay assisted on the goal against Jack McCartan who was subbing for the injured Gump Worsley. Next day newspaper accounts of the game mention that it was one of Beliveau's best games ever. Featuring the goal puck from the historic event, the Art Ross Tyer/CCM puck that the big center plotted for the important marker has rubber-crested logos both front and back, with "271" added to the Rangers logo and "271 Buts" written just above in gold ink. In outstanding condition with a light skate slice on the edge and slight darkening to the crests, an 8" x 10" wooden plaque with engraved plate listing the particulars was made and will accompany. This important piece of memorabilia in Jean Beliveau's career and Montreal Canadiens history will be accompanied by a LOA signed by the Canadiens all-time MVP.
