Excellent opportunity for Bruins fanatics and Boston Garden aficionados is this massive double-sided banner that once hung in the storied sports temple. Measuring a huge 8-foot by 12-foot, the sturdy nylon affair commemorates a banner season, actually the greatest in terms of winning percentage the NHL has ever seen, even to this day! Coming off its first Stanley Cup championship, Boston’s lineup featured 40-goal scorers (in a 44-game schedule!) Cooney Weiland and Dit Clapper, along with fellow Hall-of-Famers Eddie Shore, Marty Barry, Harry Oliver and goalie Tiny Thompson, and rolled to a 38-5-1 record which translates to a .875 winning percentage. The Bruins’ 77 points outdistanced Chicago by a whopping 30 atop the NHL’s American Division. The team did not lose back-to-back games all season until being swept by the darn Canadiens in the best-of-three Stanley Cup final. The surprising upset prompted the league to lengthen the finals to a best-of-five in the future. Classic Bruins logo is stitched to the golden banner, with “Division Champions 1929-30” below and the team’s name above. Intact with no major detracting flaws other than a few minor stains, the formidable arena memorabilia was originally sold in the historic 1996 Boston Garden auction.
