Six-time Stanley Cup champion Mark Messier hoisted Lord Stanley’s silver chalice five times as a member of the Edmonton Oilers, including as their captain in 1990. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007, offered here is this collection of Messier signed memorabilia made up of an Oilers captain's jersey and a pair of sticks, including a game-issued model from circa-1992 in his early years with the New York Rangers. Starting with the jersey, a CCM Vintage series pro on-ice style offering that has brand and size "52" labeling affixed to the inner collar, the reverse hemline is accented with a logo patch of CCM and an embroidered NHL shield logo. Decorated over the front with a familiar Oilers team crest that features embroidered details, the captain's "C" is found over the left breast while a 1990 Stanley Cup Finals patch has been placed alongside it on the left side. Featuring pro on-ice elements including a fight strap on the interior and reinforced elbows, Messier's number "11" has been sewn to the sleeves and verso in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Messier" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters that have been affixed directly to the upper back. Signed by Mark over the first "1" on the reverse, the black marker ink signature displays well and without issue despite some very light bleeding around the edges. Additionally, the jersey itself is also remains in excellent condition with just a couple of spots on the right side of the collar that are worth mentioning for accuracy. For the sticks, both untaped and never used, the game-issued twig is a neutral coloured offering that has "Messier" stamped to the upper shaft while the store model stick in black and red is void of any player identifiers. Remaining in overall good condition with their accent stickers intact on both, light handling wear and marks are observed throughout while Messier has signed the forehand side of both blades with blue marker ink signatures that display well despite some aging being observed. Additionally, the game-issued stick has also been signed by Adam Graves in matching ink with his autograph in the same condition while the store model stick has been inscribed by Messier with "94 Cup".
