Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

The record holder for the most goals in a season by a defensemen, Paul Coffey is second only to Ray Bourque for career goals, assists and points. From the twilight of his Hall of Fame career in the late-1990s/early-2000s, we have a signed stick used by the iconic blueliner during his time with either the Carolina Hurricanes (1999-2000) or Boston Bruins (2000-01). A Sher-Wood PMP 7000 model with “Coffey 77” graphics over the upper shaft, “Handcrafted Exclusively for Paul Coffey” appears along the underside, with the stick retaining the original black tape over the handle and white tape over the blade (an extra piece has been added to the reverse, possibly to adhere a loose strand). A large black marker signature from Coffey has been placed over the blade tape. Just light game-use is exhibited, with a bit of spotting to the blade tape, and a small section of tape residue to the shaft. There also appears to be something written on the blade in black marker beneath the blade tape.
