Led by Gordie Howe's 100 points, the Houston Aeros would advance to the Avco Cup playoffs in 1973-74, and losing only two matches, would defeat Winnipeg, Minnesota and Chicago to be crowned Avco Cup champions. This Aeros 1974 Avco Cup champions ring is a sample. Size 10 with an approximate weight of 24 grams, an Aeros logo sits centered over the tableau, with "World Hockey Association" encompassing, separated by three zirconia. The right shank has a generic player with "Sample" above in raised letters, while the left shank sports a raised image of the Avco Cup. The inner band is engraved with "BYRL" (byrilium, a silver based metal that looks like white gold) and stamped with sample number "SR7383" (manufactured by the Star Ring Company of Texas, they were chosen to supply the Houston Aeros championship rings in 1974). The ring shows moderate wear with a number of scratches visible throughout along with a few dings to edges of the band and shanks.
