Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
"Champions" was the theme of CCM-issued photos during the third year of the company's promotion, with the 8-3/4" by 11-1/4" pictures on paper stock paying tribute to the winners of various trophies. Surfacing less frequently than their brown-bordered counterparts, the group is headlined by group shots of the NHL’s Canadian and American Division Champions for 1934-35, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins, while similar examples for the Boston Cubs (Can-Am League) and Winnipeg Monarchs (Memorial Cup) are also featured. Individual portraits are also included through the likes of Charlie Conacher (NHL scoring champ), Lorne Chabot (Vezina Trophy), Frank Boucher (Lady Byng Trophy) and famous radio announcer Foster Hewitt. Condition remains decent overall with toning and handling wear found at edges and corners present on all the photos with additional things of note including pinholes to the individuals’ photos and the team shots of the Cubs and Monarchs. The examples of the Leafs and Bruins show light rippling in areas with glue and paper residue on the reverse. Lastly, the photo of Conacher has a tear to the bottom left corner.
