One of the most anticipated careers since the emergence of Wayne Gretzky, Eric Lindros made his NHL debut for Philadelphia on Oct 6, 1992, scoring a goal against Pittsburgh. The dominant force would finish his inaugural NHL season with 75 points in 61 games. From his rookie campaign in 1992-93, we offer a photo-matched and customized helmet worn by the 2016 HOF inductee. A Cooper HH 3000 model in solid Flyers black with team decals to each side and “88” to the reverse, the head gear shows good use with numerous scratches and surface abrasions, with heavy rusting to the chin strap clasp. It should also be noted that the helmet was customized specifically for Eric, with CCM plastic ear loops (the original Cooper loops were removed). As these did not originally fit, the Flyers equipment manager widened the holes at each side so the CCM loops would fit, with an extra piece of blue padding also added to the interior for a better and more comfortable fit for Eric. The image from the October 1993 Beckett issue has been matched to the scratch on top of the Flyers sticker on the right side, while three numeric images also show the scratch through the "O" of Cooper on the front of the helmet (Getty Images #72504072, #72528201 and #72557059. Originally sold in a charity auction to benefit the Flyers’ Wives Fight for Lives charity, a letter from the Flyers will accompany along with an additional COA.
