The thought/dream of owning a complete set of, in some cases, ultra-elusive 1968-69 Shirriff coins, is one that excites numerous hobbyists, many of whom however have been frightened-off by the length of time required to locate each and every one of the 176 plastic discs. Well folks, here's an opportunity that seldom comes along with this years-in-the-making complete set, with yes, all three Oakland Seals scarcities (Vadnais, Jarrett and Young), along with Rangers Balon Hadfield, Jeffrey and Stewart present, as well as the other (close to three dozen) SPs and superstars Orr, Howe and Hull. Housed for years in coin holders and 20-pocket ancient-looking pages that can hide flaws, including scratched “windows” or “lenses”, the coins overall present very well indeed. Almost-standard intermittent light cracks to the clear plastic that covers the images can be anticipated, but we looked very closely and found just two coins with edge chips; Oakland’s Harris and Toronto’s Smith, with no obvious condition issues to the backs spotted – this assembly features no to-be-replaced fillers. We also examined the sometimes-counterfeited Seals and Rangers biggies and you need not worry about fakes. The luscious team color-coded backs, especially those of the six expansion teams, sure take guys of a certain age on a trip back to their childhood and make us think of the “luscious” that appeared on the backs of coins in the early-‘60s. A delectable treat will fulfill you when these blasts form the past are delivered. Good luck with this marvelous opportunity.
