Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
A complete 396-card assembly of O-Pee-Chee’s 1981-82 release is included in this lot along with a few extra goodies that are sure to entice our lucky winning bidder. Led by the rookie class offerings of Denis Savard, Peter Stastny, Jari Kurri and Paul Coffey, all remain in the condition range of EX-MT/NM with the Coffey displaying with 60-40 centering right-to-left. In a consistent grade range of EX-MT/NM throughout minus a small number of exceptions, notable cards include #1 of Ray Bourque, #106 of Wayne Gretzky and #118 of Mark Messier. Bourque’s card shows a rough top edge while the Messier example has 80-20 centering, off from left-to-right. The three checklist cards remain unmarked with the first two in the same EX-MT/NM condition that is commonly found throughout the set while the last one, card #381, shows multiple creases and can be described as in the scope of F/G condition. As for the previously mentioned extra goodies, approximately 200 additional cards from the 1981-82 release are also included. Not all different, the grouping includes three additional Denis Savard rookie cards with two in lower grade and one around the condition vicinity of EX. Featuring no other major stars, other key contributors within the extra 200 or so cards include three extra Andy Moog RC’s, two extra Kevin Lowe RC’s and two extra Glenn Anderson RC’s, with all found mostly in the EX-MT condition range. Additionally, also present in the extras that are included are a pair of broken down and flattened display boxes that once held packs and 48 wax wrappers that once housed cards. Displaying a price of .25 cents on each with 14 cards previously found inside, the wrappers remain in good condition with excellent colours while only a small handful show tears. The wax boxes show in good condition as well with just some creasing, corner wear and light tears observed, while the corners have been separated on both to have them lay flat and the lid having come separated on one with the other having have what could be interpreted as either a $110 or $11.00 price sticker affixed to the front.
