Pitting the still in their infancy Milwaukee Braves against the dynasty that was the New York Yankees, the 1957 World Series saw Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra battle Braves’ rookies Hank Aaron and Eddie Matthews, with the series won in seven by Milwaukee, making them the only non-New York team to win a World Series during the 1950s. We offer this vintage 1957 World Series Game 1 Yankee Stadium ticket stub. Taking place on October 2nd, the hometown Yankees took a 1-0 series lead with a 3-1 win after scoring a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Milwaukee scored their single run in the seventh and Yankee pitcher Whitey Ford threw a complete game. The Lower Stand reverse seat lists “1957 World Series” and “Game 1”, along with the original listed price of $7.35, taxes included. Held in an iCert holder and deemed “authentic”, the ticket shows wear to the edges with a fairly clean rip at its left side. The middle of the ticket exhibits light paper loss with a 1” tear found through “Series” at the top of the stub.
