Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
Combining strong physical play with exceptional scoring abilities to serve as the only player in NHL history with over 600 goals and 2,000 penalty minutes, Brendan Shanahan won a trio of Stanley Cup championships with Detroit, along with gold medals at the World Championships, Canada Cup and Winter Olympics while representing Canada. This signed stick was used by Shanahan during the 2001-02 season with the Red Wings. An Easton Classic Silver Tip model, “Shanahan” is stamped to the stem of the inserted wooden Easton blade with the stamp fading over time but still remaining legible while a handwritten date reading "?/28/02" is found on the backside of the upper shaft, with the first portion rubbed out. Shanny’s original black tape is found over the handle/knob with the blade tape having been removed (with remnants on the bottom of the blade) to facilitate a strong black ink signature that displays without issue. Game-use is moderate with light marks to the blade and marks/abrasions found throughout the shaft.
