Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022

Still only a teenager when he arrived on the Major League Baseball scene and appeared on Topps bubble gum cards like this in 1955, Sandy Koufax would go on to accumulate multiple impressive laurels in his all-too-short career that had him becoming, in 1972 at age 36, the youngest player ever elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Four no-hitters, three Cy Young Awards (the only pitcher to win three in an era when just one award was given for both leagues), two World Series MVP awards - in short, one of the greatest pitchers of all-time and one of the outstanding Jewish athletes in U.S. sports history - Sandy's career was fascinating! Koufax's cherished '55 Topps rookie card here merited a mark of GOOD 2 upon assessment from PSA. Displaying corner wear all the way around, the front of the card shows respectable centering and colours while the reverse shows toning, stains and a black streak along the bottom that are surely the reasons why the grade was brought down. The PSA holder remains in excellent condition with only light scratches over each side.
