Led by captain Mark Messier and the Conn Smythe goaltending of Bill Ranford, the 1989-90 Oilers proved that Edmonton’s dynasty was bigger than even Wayne Gretzky himself. Two years after the Great One was traded to L.A., the Oilers were back on top in the spring of 1990 when Messier joyously hoisted the Cup at Boston Garden for Edmonton’s fifth title in seven seasons. Each of those Stanley Cup wins are commemorated by the five big diamonds featured on the tableau of this magnificent 10-karat gold ring that was presented to Oilers trainer Barrie Stafford. "Stanley Cup Champions 1990" is spelled out around the bezel that encircles the white gold bed that holds another 16 smaller diamonds around the fabulous fivesome. The Oilers logo sits in the middle of the right shank with "Stafford" above it, all in raised gold, along with a banner stamped "Trainer" at the bottom. The left shank displays "5 Stanley Cup Championships" across the top with an image of Lord Stanley's silverware on the right, the 1990 final's result in the middle, and a motivational carrot on the left with each of the Oilers' five Cup championship years on it. Incredible ring weighs about 34 grams with "Jostens 10K" stamped inside the size 10 3/4 band. Wonderfully preserved with proud wear showing in scratches to the band, this is the ultimate Oilers dynasty championship ring. This item was originally part of the Barrie Stafford’s collection sold by Classic Auctions in 2016 and will come with Barrie Stafford’s signed LOA.
