Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/21/2022
With no introduction needed for hockey fans, Don Cherry spent over three decades as co-host of Coach’s Corner on Hockey Night in Canada, and is well known for his outspoken opinions and flamboyant outfits. This signed shirt, tie and blazer were all worn by Grapes at the 2016 World Cup and later donated. Matching jerseys were also designed in the style of Cherry’s blazer for the Vancouver Giants, and worn on March 14, 2017, and we offer a replica specimen. First, the white shirt was produced by d’abbondanza and shows wear with sweat staining to the collar, with “DSC” embroidered to the left cuff, and Cherry signing the right cuff. The tie has “Canada” repeated along with a partial maple leaf, with Cherry signing in blue marker. Lastly, the blazer has a label from Loudmouth, and features numerous maple leafs, with Cherry signing the accompanying coat hanger. The jersey sports Catstitch labeling and “56” sizing, with all the graphics sublimated, with Cherry signing the front in blue marker. We should also note that Getty Image #607364414 (Sept 16, 2016 World Cup of Hockey) shows Cherry wearing this blazer. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
