Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

The first German-born player to win the Art Ross and Hart Memorial trophies, Leon Draisaitl was selected 3rd overall by Edmonton in 2014. Serving as an alternate captain with the Oilers beginning in 2019-20, Draisaitl has also represented Germany on the international scene. Hailing from his rookie season in 2014-15, we have signed gloves worn by Draisaitl while scoring his first NHL goal, on Oct 24, 2014 vs Carolina. CCM Pro models in Oilers colours, “Draisaitl” is screened to each wrist extension, with “55” handwritten to each palm (significance unknown). The pair shows nice use in the form of puck marks, wear to the palms and rubbing to the material, with each glove also permeating a strong sweat smell. An inventory tag from the Oilers and hologram are affixed to the left glove. The accompanying LOA from the Oilers mentions that the gloves are photo-matched, but we could only locate a single image of Draisaitl scoring his first goal, and while Getty Image #457814942 shows the matching type of models, it is not a true photo-match, as no distinct marks or wear can been matched. Draisaitl has signed each in black marker.
