Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023

Coming from his first Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy season, in which he slung 41 pucks into opposition nets, is this CCM JetSpeed FT4 Pro stick used by the sniper during the 2020-21 National Hockey League season. Acquired directly from the Maple Leafs, the stick features “Papi 34” factory graphics on the shaft while the blade sports its original tape job of both black and white. Matthews’ original white grip tape covers the handle that displays a handwritten “34” on the front and cross on the back, both done in black ink. Blacked out on the lower shaft and heel area, the stick shows good use through puck marks over both sides of the blade tape and numerous scuffs/abrasions over the shaft and heel. Acquired directly from the team, a Toronto Maple Leafs LOA will accompany the piece. Of note, Getty Image #1231504510 (March 3rd, 2021 vs Edmonton) appears to show the same chipping to the top of the blacked out portion on the underside of the shaft as on the stick offered here but it is not clear enough to call a definite photo-match.
