Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Stepping-out from his famous father’s shadow as a three-time finalist for the James Norris Trophy as the NHL’s premier blueliner, Mark Howe saw action in over 1,000 NHL/WHA contests throughout his HOF career, and represented both the US and Canada internationally. Holding a number of NHL records including highest Plus/Minus career by a U.S. born defenseman and most points by a rookie U.S. born defenseman in a season, Howe was also a five-time All-Star, and we offer his Wales Conference jersey worn at the 1981 NHL All-Star Game; his first best-on-best showcase. Gerry Cosby labeling along with a laundering tag and “54” size swatch is affixed to the collar. Featuring an embroidered NHL shield crest over the chest with shield-inserted stars placed above, “5” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with additional twill stars added to the front and reverse band as well as the sleeves. The mesh V-neck jersey also has no fight strap as issued. Just light wear is visible on the desirable All-Star garment, with a few faint marks over the front and sleeves. There is also light sweat staining to the cuffs. A detailed LOA document will accompany, and we should note that screen grabs from a DVD of the game show the correct name placement on the reverse, but the image is not high resolution enough to call a definitive photo-match.
