Selected second overall by the Edmonton Oil Kings at the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, Curtis Lazar was named an alternate captain at the start of his third season with the club. Advancing to the Memorial Cup during his final season with the Ice Kings in 2013-14 after scoring 76 points, Lazar would add an additional 22 points during the playoffs, with the Ice Kings defeating Guelph in the final, with Lazar receiving the George Parsons Trophy for sportsmanship. The semifinal match vs Val-d’Or featured the longest Memorial Cup game on record, with Lazar scoring the winning goal in the third overtime while wearing the offered photo-matched and signed Oil Kings alternate captain’s jersey (the jersey was also worn in the Memorial Cup final). Produced by Reebok with Elite and CHL labeling along with “56” sizing, Reebok and CHL crests grace the reverse neckline and bottom hem respectively. Styled with a multi-coloured Oil Kings tackle twill team crest with embroidered detailing, “27” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered twill, with “Lazar” across the affixed nameplate in single red twill. The jersey also sports the 2014 Memorial Cup patch and WHL crest to the right breast, with the dual-clasp fight strap intact. Exhibiting thorough game-use with a number of puck and stick marks visible along with burn marks and unrepaired small holes and slits to each sleeve as well as the lower reverse, there is pilling to the interior. Team repairs are also testament to the lengthy use, with examples situated over the right reverse shoulder, right sleeve (5) and left sleeve (3). An included image from the conclusion of the Memorial Cup semifinals (vs Val-d’Or) has been matched to a few marks over the right breast, with the long extended white thread at the base of the team crest also visible, while a second included image from the Memorial Cup final (vs Guelph) has been matched to the small hole over the lower right reverse, to the mark over the “2” of “27” on the right sleeve, and to the dark mark to the lower right sleeve. Lazar has signed the reverse “7” in black marker, with the signature displaying well. A detailed document which includes the photo-match images will accompany, along with a Memorial Cup program team-signed by 24 on the cover including Lazar.
*** ADDENDUM Evidence that has come to light in the form of a photo with Lazar hoisting the Memorial Cup clearly shows that the offered jersey is NOT the same one worn in the photo. All of the other information listed here is correct including that the jersey was worn in the record-setting overtime match vs Val-d'Or, where Lazar scored the winning goal.
