Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Spanning from the 1966-67 NHL season to and including 1986-87, we have a huge group of New York Rangers tickets and stubs (mostly stubs) totaling approx 600, all for regular-season contests, with the majority games attended by noted sports journalist Allen Abel. Included, we have three stubs from 1966-67, three stubs from 1967-68, twenty-four stubs from 1968-69, thirty-nine stubs from 1969-70, twenty-six stubs from 1970-71, thirty-eight stubs from 1971-72 including Guy Lafleur's first game at Madison Square Garden (Oct 17, 1971), forty-one stubs from 1972-73, fifty-nine stubs from 1973-74 plus one full ticket, four stubs from 1974-75, forty-three stubs for 1975-76 plus one full ticket, forty-three stubs from 1976-77 plus two full tickets, five stubs from 1977-78, forty-one stubs from 1978-79, forty-seven stubs from 1979-80, two stubs from 1980-81, forty-one stubs from 1981-82, forty stubs from 1982-83 plus two full tickets, forty-two stubs for 1983-84, forty-one stubs from 1984-85 plus one full ticket, and three stubs from 1986-87. The group also includes two 1976 Rangers "Subscriber Day" tickets, a 1972-73 Rangers season ticket booklet (empty), six additional misc MSG hockey stubs, and a pair of 1976-77 Spectrum ticket stubs (Rangers vs Flyers). The majority of the stubs show wear commensurate with their former use, with many having a rough-torn edge along with handwritten notations on the reverses.

Winning six National Magazine awards for political, travel and sports writing as a contributor to numerous publications including Sports Illustrated and Maclean's, Abel was also an on-air host, narrator, writer or producer on dozens of documentaries for HBO, Discovery, National Geographic, Hockey Night in Canada, the CBC and others. Abel has also authored a number of non-fiction works including 'The Short Life of Hughie McLoon — A True Story of Baseball, Magic, and Murder'
