Dealt from the Indianapolis Racers to the Edmonton Oilers as part of the trade that sent Wayne Gretzky to Edmonton, Peter Driscoll would move with the Oilers to the NHL from the WHA as part of the two leagues merger for the 1979-80 season, seeing action in 39 games that first year. Originally part of the Michael Wexler collection that was purchased from the team archives in 1997, we offer this Edmonton Oilers jersey worn by Driscoll during the team’s inaugural NHL season of 1979-80. A Maska Superfil label remains affixed at each end over the inner collar, with the jersey measuring out to roughly a size “48”. The familiar oil drop team crest with embroidered detailing graces the chest, with Driscoll’s “24” over the sleeves and verso in orange-over-white layered twill. Utilizing a loop-style fight strap, an embroidered Maska label is situated over the reverse hem, with the all-important Edmonton 75th anniversary patch residing over the right shoulder. Featuring good game-wear, a total of five team repairs decorate the jersey over the left sleeve and under the right arm with dark stick marks, board burns, paint transfers and unrepaired holes also seen throughout the coveted garment along with light puckering to the numbers on the sleeves and reverse. The jersey comes accompanied by an Oilers letter as well as a MeiGray COR.
