The first-round draft choice of the Washington Capitals at 17th overall in 1984, Kevin Hatcher would play 685 games over 10 years in a Capitals uniform. Selected to five NHL All-Star Games during his career, Hatcher would be inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010. Offered here, is this Washington Capitals jersey worn by Hatcher during the late-1980s with the possible seasons of wear being 1987-88, 1988-89 or early in the 1989-90 season. Made by CCM, a Maska Air-Knit label is affixed to the inner collar, with the handwritten size of “56” or “58” nearly completely erased. Featuring the CCM logo embroidered into the rear hem and a cut fight strap on the interior, the jersey measures out to a size “56”. Decorated over the front and sleeves with alternating blue and white stars in tackle twill, the front also shows the classic Capials logo with “Washington” embroidered. The sleeves and verso have Hatcher’s number “4” sewn on in dual layer tackle twill with “Hatcher” spelt out in matching style on the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting good game-wear, stick marks are seen over the front and sleeves, with team repairs over the right sleeve and front along with an additional patch job. Board burns are also seen along with a small unrepaired hole to the left sleeve and staining to the lower reverse. Additionally, a Velcro-backed alternate captain's "A" is included with the jersey but is the version from the white jersey. We do not know if it was ever used by Hatcher or not on one of his jerseys.
