Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
A binder full of 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee cards is on the auction block here, with our perusing of the old 9-pocket pages and the pulling of the star cards leading to the following summary. Pieced-together ensemble includes low, mid and high grade examples, with the key Tony Esposito RC at VG+ with toning in the lower right quadrant. Surface scratches are to note with #24-Orr (EX+), while Bobby’s 209-Norris Trophy example (VG-EX) betters his 212-All-Star card (G). Gordie Howe’s (no number) Mr. Hockey card (EX), his regular (#61) issue (VG) and 215-All-Star card (EX), Serge Savard’s RC (VG) and two Bobby Hull issues (#70 is P, 216-All-Star (G+) is nicely autographed) are also noteworthy, as are the two checklists; 31-2nd Series is unmarked but multi-creased, while 132-1st Series has creases and is filled-in. The aforementioned nicer (NM) contributors tend to be intermittent commons and are the minority – expect a set (dominated by a combination of VG and mid-grade examples) that presents decently with no real beat-up elements to come upon, although 1-Worsley is P. Five cards have stamp inserts affixed to their backs; Hall, Giacomin, Keon, Parent and Grant, while nine commons have a check mark in marker on the back. A duplicate 24-Orr card is a multi-creased throw-in.
