Reunited with Mark Messier and helping to lead the New York Rangers to the Conference Finals, Wayne Gretzky would score a team-leading 20 postseason points in just 15 games in 1996-97, his first season in Manhattan with the Blueshirts. This signed stick was used by the iconic superstar during his inaugural campaign with the New York Rangers, in 1996-97. An Easton Silver Tip model with Gretzky factory graphics, “Gretzky” has been stamped onto the inserted Easton wooden blade, with Wayne’s familiar “Jack the Gripper” over the handle. The stick retains the original black tape on the blade, with Wayne signing across the lower shaft in black marker, with much of the signature worn from handling. Good game-use is shown with wear to the blade including tears to the underside of the tape. There is also a handwritten notation to the knob of “PHIL NHL 336 MF 12-4-96”. The Rangers did play Philly on Dec 4, 1996, with Gretzky earning an assist in a 1-1 tie. A pair of holograms have been affixed including from MeiGray, with an LOA to accompany for the stick, and a Beckett LOA for the signature.
