Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

A member of the famed Montreal Canadiens defensive core of the 1970s along with Larry Robinson and Guy Lapointe, Serge Savard spent 14 glorious seasons with the Habs and was a member of the famed Canadian squad that played in the 1972 Summit Series before concluding his HOF career in Winnipeg. The stalwart blueliner would earn the Conn Smythe in 1969 followed by the Bill Masterton Trophy a decade later, and was a part of eight Stanley Cup championships. From the early-1970s, when the superstar was in his prime and the Habs were Stanley Cup champions (1971 and 1973), we offer a Canadiens jersey worn by Savard. Wilson labeling with handwritten “52” sizing is affixed to the collar, with a label beneath with "Body + Sleeves 2" handwritten, the vintage tie-neck durene sports the famous CH logo to the chest and “18” in layered tackle twill to the sleeves and verso. There is no name to the upper reverse as the jersey predates nameplates (1977-78), with the “18” on verso placed quite high on the sweater. The jersey also sports reinforced elbows, with the garter belt fight strap intact. Exhibiting heavy and thorough game-use with numerous puck and stick marks to the front and sleeves, there is also areas of red and blue paint transfer, material runs, pilling to the interior and a small hole over the lower front. Additionally, team repairs are also visible, with specimens situated on the front (1) and sleeves (3). Images of Savard and his patented spin-o-rama while wearing the offered garment will be conjured up by the winning bidder.
