A 16-year National Hockey League veteran, goaltender Martin Biron spent his first eight seasons in the league with the Buffalo Sabres before moving on to the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, and eventually the New York Rangers. Offered here is a red Buffalo Sabres alternate jersey worn by the fan favourite Biron during the 2001-02 season. Made by KOHO and tagged on the interior collar as a size 58G, this bright red offering features the Sabres alternate logo used on jerseys from 2000-2006 on the front with the usually seen logo affixed to both shoulders. The team’s home city is featured on the lower front with “Buffalo” being spelt out in the fabric. The sleeves and verso of the jersey feature Biron’s number “43” in three-layer three colour stacked tackle twill with the keeper’s name spread out across the attacked nameplate in dual layer twill of the same style. The NHL shield logo is found embroidered on the lower hem on the reverse. Affixed to the interior of the jersey at the hem is team tagging from the Sabres with the 2001-02 season designation present on it as well as serial number “9404”. Game wear on this piece is found heavily throughout with examples such as puck and stick marks, extensive pilling, small holes, staining, and a tear on the front of the jersey at the right side of the crest. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched to a game on April 2nd, 2002 versus the Philadelphia Flyers via Getty Images #1420211 to the puck mark streaking through the “4” on Biron’s right sleeve. A terrific battle-scarred example ready to find a home in your collection!
