Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
With Punch Imlach back in the driver’s seat of the Toronto Maple Leafs, relations between the players and management strained, particularly with captain Darryl Sittler, whom Imlach believed had too much influence on the team. As a result, Sittler’s close friend, Lanny McDonald, was traded on December 29, 1979 before the Leafs game against the Winnipeg Jets with Sittler ripping the “C” off his jersey in response. From that infamous 6-1 Maple Leafs victory is this ticket stub that is the only one graded by PSA. Deemed worthy of a GOOD 2 designation, the stub remains crisp white with sharp corners at the top. A red seat variation, displayed information includes the date in the middle below with seat information at the very top while the games combatants are displayed above the place where the ticket was torn at the turnstile. Additionally, included with the stub is a Maple Leafs pocket schedule from the 1979-80 season displaying Sittler and McDonald on the front.
