Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Highlighted by a pair of early-1900s Starr Glacier model skates produced for women and never used with the original box, this lot offers three pairs of vintage skates produced for females, including “Little Stars” girl’s models by Iver Johnson in the original box that appear to have never been used, and “Briton” models from approx 1920 manufactured by James Howarth & Sons in Sheffield. First, the Starr skates are solid steel construction, with the model and maker stamped into each blade, with the pair in like-new condition, sporting a size of 9 ½. There are a few very minor surface blemishes, with the original 3” x 12” skate box showing heavy wear throughout and sporting Starr graphics. The Briton models are full blade and boot combos with what appear to be the original laces, with the maker and model engraved to each blade, with the pair showing light overall wear from use. The Johnson skates are modest children’s models that appear in new condition, with the size of “13” listed, with wear to the original box. Please note that each antique skate lot in our current auction hails from an advanced 19th century skate collection, with this the second offering from the vast and comprehensive grouping.
