Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
The longest serving New York Islanders captain in franchise history, Denis Potvin was widely regarded as one of the best blueliners in the NHL during his tenure, with three James Norris trophies won along with being the first defenseman to score 1,000 career points. We have a stick used by the four-time Stanley Cup champion in 1987-88. A Titan TPM2020 model with “D. Potvin” stamped over the upper shaft, additional factory codes of “1-003” and “247811” (Nov 24, 1987) are also visible on the underside of the heel and lower shaft respectively. Retaining the original black tape on the blade and white-now-yellowing ribbed pattern over the handle/knob, the stick shows light to moderate use with wear to the underside of the blade and marks to the shaft including a large blue paint transfer streak.
